Not everyone wants to attend meetings and other formal occasions to either raise a grievance, to respond to one, or to have the issues fairly handled as soon as possible.

Also, not everyone wants the details of their grievance or concern heard and judged by a manager who may be the manager of the person against whom the complaint is made or who is in their line management organisation in some other way.

Also, not everyone wants the whole matter concluded with a judgment or imposed solution.
They simply want a quick and fair solution which enables them to keep their dignity, not destroy working relationships, to have their concerns sorted and to move on.

Very importantly, having the whole matter handled by an independent and external neutral makes for fairness and objectivity. It also provides the professional touch.

AND a key objective is to help those involved to reach an agreed outcome which really helps them to move on.
